Sunspots are gone again. We are at the bottom of the solar cycle, so conditions should only get better. There is an increase in on-air activity due to the large number of people staying at home because of Covid-19, and this week we seem to be overwhelmed with reports of sporadic E openings.

Il coronavirus ha travolto tutto e tutti, portandosi via oltre che le migliaia di vittime e posti di lavoro, anche consuetudini che, per rimanere nel nostro ambito, davamo per scontate senza pensarci, come il ritrovarsi in Sezione, i Contest multioperatore e in portatile, le dx-pedition e una moltitudine di altre situazioni care a noi radioamatori.

Il lockdown ha bloccato anche una delle attività ormai tradizionali e programmate ad inizio aprile dalla sezione di Mestre: il corso CW. Già, come faremo per il corso CW? Lo cancelliamo, è stata la prima reazione a caldo. Poi, a mente più fredda abbiamo provato ad analizzare le possibili alternative, che sostanzialmente erano due: la prima utilizzare la radio, ovviamente direte, siamo radioamatori… già, ma ai corsi partecipa anche chi non è ancora radioamatore e poi in ogni caso è difficoltosa l’interazione tra istruttore e allievi, visto che questi ultimi, in quanto appunto allievi, non hanno ancora la padronanza del CW, a meno che per corso CW non si intenda una trasmissione automatica e chi riesce a decodificarla bene, gli altri si perdono, pazienza. Non è questo il tipo di corso che fa ARI Mestre.
